Dry Needling: What it is and how it can help!

Dr. Kristin just got back from a 3 day intensive training where she got certified in trigger point dry needling and is excited to be able to offer this to our patients! Dry needling is another tool to help with muscle tension issues like:

  • Neck pain

  • Back and shoulder pain

  • Arm pain

  • Pelvic pain

  • Leg pain

  • Hip pain, sciatica, hamstring strain, calf tightness/spasms

  • Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, golfer’s elbow

  • Headaches/migraines/tension type headaches

  • Jaw pain

Integrative dry needling is not acupuncture; it is based on neuro-anatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. A very fine filament needle is inserted through the skin and into the deeper tissues that are considered trigger points to your pain. When the needle is inserted, it breaks up the trigger point or shortened/tight tissues thus allowing the nervous system to restart the inflammatory process and allows the body to heal and there is a reduction in pain and inflammation.

This is a really special offering because we are one of the few clinics in Boston that provides this specialty care. Reach out to schedule your dry needling appointment with Dr. Kristin!
